The four crack types we fix every week
Most homeowners look at a crack and think 'concrete cracked.' But concrete cracks for very different reasons, and each type needs a different repair approach. Get this wrong and the crack is back within a year.
- Hairline cracks — surface-level, usually cosmetic, but still let in moisture
- Structural cracks — wider than 1/8", often diagonal, need injection repair
- Control joint failures — original joints that opened up and need re-sealing
- Settlement cracks — caused by soil movement under the slab, may need lifting first
